Hamilton City, CA

Hamilton City is located in Glenn County, California along the Sacramento River. Hamilton City is less than 10 miles away from larger cities such as Chico and Orland. Formerly known as Hamilton, Hamilton City was founded in 1905 and became home to a large sugar beet processing plant. The community grew in population due to the numerous jobs the plant created.

Known today as the Holly Sugar plant, it was built by James Hamilton and the Alta California Sugar Beet Company in 1906. Hamilton City is only approximately 200 acres of land and has about 2,000 residents. The Hamilton Union High School is well known locally because of its sports and agricultural program as well as being recognized as a California Distinguished School.
